Suggestions Australians hold a genetic edge in basketball shot down as ‘sour grapes’

Following Australia’s third consecutive win in the FIBA Asia Cup, former Philippines men’s national basketball team manager Yeng Guiao reportedly argued that Australian and New Zealand players should not compete against Asian teams, claiming they hold a “genetic advantage.”

“Fair dinkum, if you’re going to play international basketball, you’re going to play in the Olympics, so you’re going to play against America or the Europeans, etc. so I think it’s just a case of sour grapes,” he said.
