An Australian study found couples who share a bed experience more instances of sleep disruption, waking their partner up on average six times a night.

Speaking to Long Lunch host Chrissy Morrissy, Professor Sean Drummond, PhD, clarified that the disruption is so minor it would only negatively impact people with pre-existing sleep issues.

“I always tell people, look, if one person’s sleep is so bad that you want a sleep divorce, you probably should focus on fixing the sleep problem, not just moving into a separate bedroom,” he said.
