State Opposition pushing for housing summit amid crippling rental crisis

The State Opposition is urging the Government to accept its invitation for a housing summit in a bid to help curb the current housing crisis gripping the state.
Despite a severe lack of availability for rental properties and labor shortages preventing new builds from being completed quickly Senior Government Minister Sue Ellery says they’re not interested in a talk-fest about the issue.
Shadow Housing Minister Steve Martin told Gary Adshead if no action is taken soon the situation will only get worse, particularly for those on the emergency wait list for social housing.
“There is a crisis out there and if the Premier thinks he has to choose between a strong economy and somehow not having people living in their cars who are having chemo treatment, then he is missing the point,” Mr Martin said.
