‘State daddy boycott’: Bartlett laments Premier’s refusal to go on program

Host Liam Bartlett has responded to a caller’s query on why WA Premier Mark McGowan is never on his 6PR Mornings program.
The Premier’s last appearance was on January 27 last year.
“This program is subject to a state daddy boycott, for one reason or another,” Bartlett told listeners.
“Because Mark McGowan, love him or hate him or in between there somewhere, really does not like to take the hard question.
“Essentially we don’t play the game. We have asked numerous times, on behalf of our listeners and the general public, to come into the studio and be accountable, so everyone knows what’s going on, but he doesn’t want to do it.
“We will not and never, ever will provide a list of questions prior to an interview with the Premier’s department – that’s a no-go zone. In the interests of democracy, I don’t see why you should.
“When you think about all those premiers, over all those years that I’ve interviewed, and had good times with, had laughs with, and had serious barneys with, and premiers that have been really under the cosh … it’s quite sad really.”
