Dr. Caitlyn Forster, an entomologist at the University of Sydney, attributes this prevalent issue in Australia to our vast and unique insect populations.

“There are lots of people who are willing to poach them and send them overseas as pets and things, and that’s where there is a lot of money involved,” she said.
