An experienced nurse who has worked across three states has slammed the WA health system as the worst in the country in a scathing letter to 6PR Breakfast.

Host Gareth Parker said the 48-year-old’s letter was “pretty confronting”, with examples highlighting the strain the system is under, particularly midwives at Fiona Stanley Hospital (above).

The registered nurse of 30 years said WA’s health system was “more dysfunctional now that pre-pandemic”.

“I’ve not worked in three states across Australia… WA has to be the most ridiculous health system I’ve ever worked in,” she said.

“Many of my older colleagues have retired in the last 18 months well before due, we’ve had enough.

“The government use smoke and mirrors to deflect and none of us are allowed to say anything.

“When a child dies in an emergency department my colleagues are thrown under the bus.”
