An IGA owner is calling on Western Power to take responsibility after he was forced to spend tens of thousands of dollars on generators during planned power outages to protect more than $100,000 worth of stock.

Ben Hepinstall, the owner of IGA Maddington told Perth Today host Simon Beaumont that businesses of his size receive no compensation.

“This sort of expense – two power outages in two months, $18,000 out of my own pocket just so I don’t lose over $100,000 worth of stock – it just doesn’t seem right to me,” he said.
