Six months, more than 8,000km… and a bit of luck behind Rob’s Row

The Long Lunch

Perth man Rob Barton is embarking on the journey of a lifetime, spending six months rowing solo fromĀ  Australia to Africa.

There’s only one catch: despite being an avid sailor, he had practically no experience rowing a boat before training for the challenge.

“As I started researching it, I found out that nobody had actually rowed to Africa,” Mr Barton said.

“So I thought, ‘If I’m going to do it, I may as well do something that no-one’s done before.'”
