The manager of the worksite on which 17-year-old Wesley Ballantyne fell to his death in 2017 has been fined $60,000 for neglecting to provide a safe working environment.

Wesley’s mother Regan has been campaigning for justice and awareness over unsafe working practices since the incident, and told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings more needs to be done.

“I don’t think any fine can ever put a price on someone’s life,” Ms Ballantyne said.

“But I think what’s important to take away form the penalty that was imposed yesterday is that in a lot of these cases, it’s companies that are fined; these faceless corporates entities.”
