Singing on site to Australia’s biggest stage

From mechanical fitting in the mining industry to opera singing in one of Australia’s biggest musical ensembles isn’t your usual career pathway, but for Rockingham man Ammon Bennett it’s been a dream come true.
Since graduating from WAAPA, Bennett successfully auditioned and has joined the internationally renowned Ten Tenors.
The Western Australian opera singer Ammon Bennett told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons he knew he could make the dramatic side step into the arts.
“When I was working in the mines it was this thought or feeling about wanting to do something and singing was always something I grew up with,” Mr Bennett said.
“I just happened to be working in the mines and had that burning desire to just pursue music and singing, I knew I could do it, I just needed that opportunity.”
