ABC journalists and staff around the country are on a 24-hour strike after rejecting a pay deal, forcing the national broadcaster to air BBC content in its place during the action.

6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont was perplexed by this decision, pointing out that this government-funded entity is well known for its significantly higher pay rates in comparison to other free-to-air media outlets.

“I can tell you, speaking from someone who has worked in the media for a long time, they are a lot better paid than most other parts of free-to-air mainstream media,” he said.
