According to advocates a public trial in Brisbane has matched international standards in Europe, the US and other regions in showing how allowing pets on public transport could be welcomed with open arms.

Lawyer and animal rights activist Patricia Peterson told Chrissy Morrissey on 6PR Afternoons it’s “crazy” that we have not adopted the policy nationally, given our general acceptance of pets and the clear benefits that could come from supporting a change.

“If people have to drive in order to get their dog to a dog beach it’s adding to traffic jams and livability problems; for anyone who is concerned about climate change, it should be a no-brainer,” Doctor Peterson said.
