The beginning of the year is a fresh start for many, but relationship counsellors are suggesting couples kickstart the new year with a performance review of their relationship.

However, some experts believe a performance review could cause more damage than good.

Australian Institute of Management Gary Martin told 6PR Breakfast relationship performance reviews are not a good idea.

“I think it would be a disaster,” said Mr Martin.

“I was stunned people do this.”
