Should drivers over the age of 70 display an S-plate?

Jamie Burnett

Recently in Victoria an idea was floated in their parliament to have older motorists display s-plates while on the road.

Transport Matters Party MP told Oliver Peterson “This is a discussion and this was brought about because of incidents that have happened here in Victoria,”

Oly asked Mr Barton whether making these senior drivers display an ‘S-plate’ will make others on the road more courteous and slow down when passing by.

“Look I am not a fan of the S-plate. I think it’s putting a target on them and I am not 100% confident that would be successful,” Mr Barton said.

“It is really about what would be in a perfect world and I had these conversations with my own Father who was 90 and still driving. I can tell you he wouldn’t of passed a road test.”
