As the hotter weather approaches, so do the unstoppable swarms of flies.

They’re as iconic to the Australian summer as sunburnt feet and cork hats, but that doesn’;t mean we can’t do things to avoid them.

University of Sydney entomologist Thomas White told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast there’s certain things flies are especially attracted to.

“Things like using sprays with DEET in it, loose clothing will work; in the end, they’re always going to be there,” Doctor White said.
