Recent research indicates that individuals using medicinal cannabis may be capable of driving safely even with THC present in their system.

Psychopharmacologist and Researcher from Swinburne University Dr Thomas Aktell joined Oliver Peterson on Perth Live to discuss whether medicinal cannabis causes impairment while driving.

“Surprisingly, we found virtually no driving impairment at all, which is not really what we expect,” Dr Aktell said.

“I guess what that told us, that patients who are on a stable dose of medical cannabis as prescribed by a doctor are not showing the kind of the impairment we might typically see in someone who is using it recreationally.”
