‘Severe lessons’: New kid on the block vows to appease fractured electorate

New Nationals Party leader David Littleproud wants to reset his party’s agenda to end the climate wars and pursue a market-based solution to guide farmers through the challenges of global warming.
Littleproud, a former agribusiness banker who followed in his father’s footsteps to enter politics in 2016, successfully challenged Barnaby Joyce for the top job on Monday.
He told 6PR Mornings host Liam Bartlett Australia has gone through “a hell of a lot in the past two years” and the Liberals and Nationals needed to form a pathway forward for the Coalition to be successful at the next election in 2025.
“Peter Dutton and myself will have to work collaboratively together… we can’t win in isolation, the Liberals can’t win in isolation… there will some severe lessons,” he said.
