Novak Djokovic will today learn if he can stay in Australia when his case is heard in the Federal Court.

The 34-year-old has been holed up in an inner-city Melbourne hotel since Friday after his visa was cancelled by border authorities.

The case is expected to attract world-wide attention when it’s streamed online.

Channel Nine European Correspondent in Belgrade Brett McLeod told 6PR Breakfast news of Djokovic’s plight is dominating the news in his hometown.

“It’s on every front page, it’s the lead story, it’s what everyone’s talking about – not surprisingly,” he said.

“We’re not just talking about a tennis champion here, we’re talking about a local hero as well, someone who’s greatly admired in Serbia”.
