Scott Morrison has just phoned Sydney-based radio station 2GB to defend taking on additional portfolio responsibilities while prime minister without informing the Australian public.

The former PM says he took on those additional roles due to the challenges posed by COVID-19.

He said his government was required to take “extraordinary measures” during the peak of the pandemic.
