It seems a day doesn’t go by without a new, sophisticated attempt by scammers to separate you from your money.

Recently, though, they’ve gone straight to the point – stealing your friends’ identities and attempting to bilk you into fake event tickets.

NAB’s Executive for Group Investigations and Fraud Chris Sheehan told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons it ,ay not be sophisticated, but it’s proven to be effective.

Obviously people see that and assume that it’s safe because it looks like it’s coming from someone that they know paid for the ticket, and then they’ve lost their money because it’s actually the scammer,” Mr Sheehan said.
