Russian grandmother visa cancelled without explanation in Perth

A Perth man has made an appeal after his Russian mother-in-law was detained at Perth Airport, put in detention and ordered to be deported on Friday.
Clinton Matthews said Galina Ledneva, the mother of his Australian wife Irina, was granted a visa last month but she was put in detention without any explanation on arrival in Perth last week.
She had travelled to Perth on the same visa on three occasions, staying for 12 months each time.
Mr Matthews told Millsy at Midday host Steve Mills he believed Russia’s current conflict with Ukraine was at the core of the issue.
