‘Gabby Cabby’ told the John Hughes Rumour File an electric train that came in from Thornlie or Armadale should have been diverted to platform four or five, but the switch did not work, causing the train to go into platform three with no overheard wires.

The drama continued as the train lost power and it was the wrong height to disembark. Meanwhile, the Australind service and other train line services were severely delayed, leaving passengers stranded at Perth Train Station on Sunday evening.

The rumour was confirmed when Transperth correspondent, David Hynes, told 6PR Breakfast our “rumour-supplier was pretty close to the mark.”

Press PLAY to hear the rumour confirmed

Mr Hynes said the stranded train was finally removed at 11:40pm on Monday night.
