Western Australia’s arts industry has been hit for six again, with WA Opera’s flagship 2022 production postponed as key personnel remain stranded interstate.

WA Opera artistic director Chris van Tuinen confirmed to Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast the staging of Carmen at the WACA next month would now be postponed due to COVID-related travel issues.

Caller El Toreador alerted The Rumour File to the news on 6PR Breakfast earlier on Friday.

“While the Carmen situation is devastating and upsetting, I have great hopes for the rest of the season, and hopefully in 12 months we can bring this event to the people of Perth,” van Tuinen told Parker.
