RUMOUR CONFIRMED | Kitchen mishap fuels fire drama at DFES

Article image for RUMOUR CONFIRMED | Kitchen mishap fuels fire drama at DFES

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has confirmed Smokey the Bear’s assertion on the John Hughes Rumour File this morning that someone’s snack set off a fire alarm at DFES headquarters.

While it wasn’t toast that sparked the alarm, as first rumoured to Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast today, it has since been clarified somebody’s flour tortilla was to blame.

It was definitely not Fire Commissioner Darren Klem, as his office at DFES’s emergency service complex in Cockburn Central is on the second floor.

6PR Breakfast was told the evacuation went smoothly, with fire wardens doing a sterling job in their own backyard, ushering workers back into the building after a 5-minute hiatus in safety outside.
