Channel Seven news reporter Geof Parry told 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont that the population boomed about six months ago, and while summer will bring its own challenges, many simply have nowhere to go.

“While there are some ratbags down there, a lot of those people down there are genuine, and we should have great sympathy for the plight that they find themselves in”, Parry said.
