RMIT expert argues lowering voting age will repair Australia’s inter-generational divide

Judith Bessant, Professor at RMIT University believes that by lowering the voting age Australia it will enhance our democratic culture.
“It will make our democracy more democratic and inclusive as there are a whole lot of people who are not represented who are ought to be,” she told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live.
“I think that young people are informed at large as much as any other age cohort, they’ve got an interest, perhaps more than others and they’ve got a right to have a say about how legislate affects them.”
