Large organisations have had the legal right to disconnect outside of work hours for a year, and as of tomorrow, small businesses will implement this change.

Ian Neil SC, one of Australia’s leading barristers, explained to 6PR Breakfast show hosts Millsy and Karl that the new ruling includes an exception where employers can contact employees if deemed reasonable:

“If it is urgent and it is truly urgent, that’s something that would weigh in favour of the employer having a right to expect that an employee would answer that call.”
