Acting Premier Roger Cook has announced the end of a mask-wearing mandate for indoor venues or other outdoor major events.

They will only be required in vulnerable settings such as hospitals, aged-care and disability settings.

They will also be required on public transport, taxis and ride-sharing vehicles.

It comes as the state recorded no new locally acquired COVID-19 cases.

“While it’s fantastic to be in this position to safely easy mask-wearing requirements tonight, it’s important to remember we are not out of the woods yet,” Mr Cook said.

“We still need people to do the right thing … check-in on SafeWA, have your proof of vaccination ready to go, if you’re sick don’t go out at all.

“Stay home and get tested if you’ve been to an exposure site, or have symptoms, and if you’re eligible book in for your third dose.

“If we all do the right thing, we can keep restrictions light, we can keep the public healthy, and we can enjoy our uniquely Western Australian way of life.”

Six cases have been recorded to travel, three interstate and three international arrivals.

All cases are in quarantine.

There have been 23 close contact identified of the Hyatt Hotel security guard and his household contact who contracted the Omicron variant.

A majority of them have tested negative, and none of their work colleagues have tested positive.
