A new Federal Government report has revealed that nearly half of the supermarkets, independent grocers and butcheries are short-changing customers.

The report details that supermarket scales are incorrectly weighing labels, costing Australians millions of dollars.

Bill Loizides, General Manager of Legal Metrology at the National Measurement Institute told Michael Genovese and Mick Colliss, filling in for Millsy and Karl, that their is a whole range of requirements supermarkets are compelled to follow.

“In Australia there is no mandatory requirements for annual testing but instruments used for transactions are required to be verified on first use,” Mr Loizides told 6PR Breakfast.
