Truancy, bullying and intimidation among students is rife in Australian schools while teachers report being ill-prepared to manage disruptive behaviours, according to a new OECD report.

Teachers have also reported a massive increase in job dissatisfaction and increased pressure to maintain effectiveness.

“The common denominator for all of these problems being faced in the school system is the increasing disruption and disorder in the average Australian classroom,” Mr Fahey said.
