With Midland Brick halting roof tile production, Western Australians looking to renovate or repair sections of their roofs are now facing the costly reality of a full replacement.

Michael McGowan, executive director of the Housing Industry Association Western Australia, told 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont that a severe lack of kilns across the state is driving the issue.

“I think we need to look at perhaps two or three new kilns to help increase the supply of not only bricks, but also pavers and clay tiles into the future”, McGowan said.
