‘Reckless, foolish, arrogant, stupid’: Gareth Parker lets rip at high-flying Nev Power
The outrage continues after millionaire WA businessman Nev Power dodged prison for refusing to obey WA’s strict COVID-19 rules in October last year.
6PR Mornings host Gareth Parker lambasted the former Perth Airport chairman and FMG boss, who was handpicked by the Prime Minister to head a COVID-19 taskforce.’
Parker said he and son Nick fragrantly breached WA’s border rules when they flew from Queensland to WA in a helicopter via a stop-off in Exmouth without completeting a G2G pass or doing quarantine.
“You wonder why people get cynical about the justice system and you wonder why ordinary people conclude there is one set of rules for the elite and another set of rules for the rest of us,” Parker said on Thursday morning.
“It is incredible he has avoided time in jail… a week later he went to the Telethon Ball and rubbed shoulders with Perth’s elite.”
Power yesterday was handed a suspended eight-month jail term.
“It is incredibly, incredibly reckless and foolish and arrogant and stupid that Nev Power did what he did,” Parker told listeners.
“No one knew more than Nev Power what the rules were… and he fragrantly, deliberately breached them.
“If you’re a Melbourne Football Club supporter you go to jail.”
