The Australian Council of Trade Unions’ major bid for an extra week of annual leave has been branded “irresponsible and reckless.”

Shaun Schmitke, Workplace Relations from the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, explained to 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl that the proposal is unwarranted, given Australia already offers an extensive safety net for a range of other entitlements.

He warned: “At the end of the day it’s the consumers who will pay more and business will suffer,” he said.
