The City of Cockburn has approved reallocating $50,000 from its events program surplus to host purple-themed community celebrations, should the Dockers win the 2026 premiership.

Deputy Mayor Phoebe Corke, who opposed the motion, told 6PR Breakfast hosts Karl Langdon and Will Schofield that the funds should be prioritised for cost-of-living support.

“We’re in a cost-of-living crisis, we’ve just put rates up at higher than CPI because costs are coming in so tight on us, we’re having to tighten our belts left, right and centre,” she said.
