Only a few days after the cabinet reshuffle, Minister for Planning and Lands, Housing and Works, and Health Infrastructure John Carey has hit the ground running, heading straight to Lancelin to assess the town’s coastal erosion crisis firsthand.

Carey told 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont that the erosion has escalated much faster than anticipated. His current focus is an interim solution to buy time, allowing the state to collect data and find a more informed, long-term solution.

“The one warning is this, that anything you do could have consequences in another area”, he said.
