RAC says FuelWatch should act on soaring diesel prices

Despite the physical price of oil going backwards in recent weeks, the cost of diesel has stayed consistently high, despite costing less to process.

RAC external relations general manager Will Golsby told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings there were so many questions for energy companies to answer for a concerned community and urged FuelWatch to do more.

“Even from last year, from the start of July, diesel is up over $1 a litre, a huge cost-on for motorists and the industry more broadly,” Golsby said.

“They [FuelWatch] have the power to do more and this has been happening since October, we’ve seen prices on the rise, uncertainty around the prices, we often see the prices go up like a rocket and down like a feather.”
