Queen Elizabeth II, world’s longest-reigning monarch has died aged 96
Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96, Buckingham Palace has announced.
Her eldest son, Prince Charles is now King.
The news came after Buckingham Palace issued a statement confirming the Queen was “remaining under medical supervision” as doctors were concerned for her health.
The ceremonial duties of proclaiming a new monarch will be handled by an Accession Council, which will gather at St James’s Palace.
