Qantas offers customers $50 and extra perks in apology for travel chaos

Article image for Qantas offers customers $50 and extra perks in apology for travel chaos

Qantas is gifting most of its 14 million frequent flyers a $50 travel credit as part of a formal apology for poor performance.

The credit comes after months of flight delays, cancellations and baggage mishandling.

The airline will also allow frequent flyers to retain their current Silver, Gold, Platinum or Platinum One status through to as far as mid-2024.

David Flynn, Editor at Executive Traveller, told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast that these perks are meant to be apology measures.

“Qantas is unlocking a lot more frequent flyer seats so you can book with frequent flyer points,” he explained.

“That’s been a bonus contention for people because with fewer flights and higher demand, and there are fewer seats that they can use their points on,

“And they’ve been saving these points for the last two years when they were grounded.”
