Push to let pensioners work more than a day week

Millsy & Karl

Australia’s peak retail body believes an increase to the hours older people can work without losing their pension is a step in the right direction.

The measure will be debated at the Federal Government’s upcoming Jobs and Skills summit in Canberra.

Australian Retailers Association CEO Paul Zahra told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast there were calls to increase the income limit for pensioners ahead of the summit.

“We want pensioners to be able to work more than a day a week before their pensions are docked… this is really important particularly in regional locations where you have a lot of people in retirement,” he said.
