A reform has been proposed by an independent MP to classify all video games with gambling-type features as R+18 and ban their sale to children.

The proposed reform aims to minimise the exposure of children to gambling in a bid to prevent addiction later in life.

Tasmanian Independent MP Andrew Wilkie told 6PR Afternoons host Russell Collett kids are being exposed to and encouraged to gamble in many video games.

“These kids are being groomed to gamble in a more conventional way when they are adults,” said Mr Wilkie.
