West Australian Alana King says the women’s cricket team have “created history” by winning an historic Commonwealth Games gold medal.

Australia beat India by nine runs to claim the medal in a match which went down to the wire.

It completes a hugely successful year for the women’s team, having won the Women’s T20 World Cup and the 50-over Women’s World Cup.

“It’s been pretty unbelievable,” King told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.

“We came to this tournament to win gold and to do it pretty spectacular, and I’m just pretty stoked.”
