WA Premier Mark McGowan is standing firm on enforcing a 14 day isolation period for teachers and students considered close contacts of Covid positive cases in schools.

There are calls to drop the required quarantine period to seven days, as Corpus Christi College, Harrisdale Senior High School and Winterfold Primary School all recorded positive cases in the first three days of the school year.

Hundreds of students and dozens of teachers will have to self isolate for two weeks as a result.

“If you go to seven days quarantine that will mean faster spread of the virus and that will mean more people will become sick,” Mark McGowan told Oliver Peterson on Perth LIVE
