A motorcycle rider has died in a crash in Perth’s south after trying to avoid police.

After losing sight of the rider, police found it crashed further down the road a short time later.

Reporter Conner McGoverne told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast officers tried to stop the 20-year-old on Wellard Road in Calista just after nine o’clock last night.

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, with oversight from the Internal Affairs Unit due to the earlier attempt to stop the motorcycle.
