Police are hunting the driver of a car which crashed and burst into flames on the Graham Farmer Freeway.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 11.30pm last night to find a BMW coupe had hit four power poles, shearing off three, and caught fire on the East Perth side of the tunnel.

Nine News Perth reporter Kamin Gock is on the scene and told Gareth Parker on Mornings it’s believed the car had been racing another vehicle prior to the crash.

An eyewitness said she was overtaken by the vehicle, saw a flash when it went round a bend and then saw it alight when she reached it.

Listen here:

Police say the other car stopped, the driver was pulled from the wreck of the BMW, and they fled the scene before emergency services arrived.

Witnesses – or anyone with dash cam vision – should call Crime Stoppers.
