Western Australia’s police are petitioning to the Premier and State Government to make urgent changes as the force continues to struggle to keep officers on the front lines.

WA Police Union Vice President Paul Gale told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast WA’s mandatory sentencing laws for police assaults were falling prey to legal faults, which was a potent factor behind many leaving the force.

“Unfortunately, I believe our justice system lets us down because they use loopholes to not enforce the mandatory sentencing,” Mr Gale said.
