The population of the European wasp is increasing in Perth after years of holding the dangerous pest at bay.

“They’re increasing their range over in the Eastern States of Australia so inadvertently, unfortunately, there was more opportunities to ship the queens accidentally over here in freight and cargo; and that’s why we get them every year.
“There’s nothing we can do about that, but every year we seem to get a few more nests,” Marc Widmer, the senior technical officer for Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development told Steve and Baz.
