WACA to receive $30 million lifeline

The federal government will invest $30 million towards the revitalisation of the WACA.

The funding commitment will help transform the state’s oldest and most famous sporting ground into a multi-sport boutique venue that will invigorate the East Perth precinct, provide equitable training facilities for elite sporting teams and complement Optus Stadium.

WACA CEO Christina Matthews told Weekend Breakfast she’s excited about the opportunities the funding gives.

“It means we can really get down to work on upgrading the grounds.”

The deal is expected to be finalised in the first half of next year.
