WA rockmelons a-ok

Millsy & Karl

Rockmelon farmers are leaving tonnes of fruit to rot because of a listeria outbreak from one NSW farm.

90% of Dane Caporgreco’s crop is going to waste and he’s blaming the Government for not educating the public correctly about the issue.

“It’s got nothing to do with us, we’re 3500 kms away from the farm that has this issue. It’s not a disease, it’s negligence in farming from the way he washes his fruits,” the Waroona grower told 6PR Breakfast

“In our peak at the moment we do 100 tonnes a day, and right now we’re doing about 10,” Mr Caporgreco told Steve and Baz. When Steve asked what’s happening to the rest of the perfectly good fruit, he replied:”we leave it out there to rot.”
