WA renters advocacy group welcomes rent relief package

Gary Adshead

The executive manager of Tenancy WA has welcomed the State Government’s package to provide assistance to tenants and landlords – as they ride out the coronavirus downturn.

$30 million in grants will be made available from May 1 – providing up to two thousand dollars in rent for tenants – paid directly to the landlord.

To qualify – renters need less than $10,000 in their accounts – and be spending at least 25 percent of available income on rent.

Tenancy WA’s Carmen Acosta told Gareth Parker on Mornings it’s a favourable package.
