‘This isn’t about excuses looking to get rid of the sky show’

The City of Perth has called for reports into alternative options for major upcoming events – if we’re still in the grips of the coronavirus pandemic by the time they come around.

City of Perth Commission chair Andrew Hammond told Gareth Parker on Mornings they’ll wait for those reports before making a decision on the future of the Christmas Pageant, or Australia Day fireworks.

He says it can take up to 10 months to organise an event the size of the Skyworks and contracts would normally need to be signed soon.
